Job Summary
The Tendering Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and technically compliant cost estimates for construction projects. The role includes detailed review of tender documents, quantity take-off verification, coordination with suppliers and subcontractors, cost analysis, and participation in the complete tendering cycle.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Tender Document Review
• Review architectural and structural drawings, project specifications, and tender documents.
• Identify and define the project scope of works, highlighting any discrepancies or missing information.
• Prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) to seek clarifications from clients or consultants.
• Review and validate quantity take off.
2. Cost Estimation
• Upload bills of quantity to the Candy software to start Estimation process
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare technical and commercial comparison sheets to recommend the most suitable offer.
• Maintain and update a cost database, market price references, and historical benchmarks.
3. Budget
• Prepare detailed direct cost breakdowns for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted works.
• Generate the project budget from Candy after completing the estimation phase.
• Identify risks and prepare contingency cost allowances where necessary.
4. Tender Submission
• Ensure tender submissions meet client requirements and comply with technical and commercial instructions.
• Communicate with clients during the pre-bid stage for clarifications and updates.
• Prepare the final cost sheet and review it with the Direct Manager prior to submission.
5. Final Stage
• Support contract review with the Client and Contracts Department before signing the contract.
• Handover the tender file, cost breakdown, and supporting documents to the execution team when applicable.
Qualifications & Skills
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Certificates: PMP (Project Management Professional), CCP (Certified Cost Professional), or PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) are preferred. Knowledge of FIDIC contracts or related certifications is considered an advantage
• Years of Experience :3+ years in construction estimation, preferably in large-scale projects.
• Software: Proficiency in estimation software (Candy, MS Excel).
• Skills: Attention to detail, analytical thinking, negotiation skills, and deadline management, Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, Strong Analytical and numerical skills.
